Back where we belong: Doolittle aims to do it all

Perth Wildcats stars Kristian Doolittle and Dylan Windler are targeting a return to NBL Championship glory in NBL26, with fresh signings and renewed determination driving their pre-season preparations.
Perth Wildcats star Kristian Doolittle has set his sights on adding another chapter to the club’s storied history, with a return to NBL Championship glory firmly in his plans.
With 10 titles to their name, the most of any team in the League, the Wildcats last reigned supreme in 2020. While Perth fans haven’t been short on success over the years, Doolittle believes it is time for the team to reclaim its place at the summit.
“I’ve been welcomed with open arms here. I haven’t won a championship in Perth yet and I’ve won one everywhere else I’ve played. It’s something I still want to check off my list,” he told the club’s website.
“This is the most successful club in Australia, and I want to add to that legacy.”
Last season ended in disappointment when Perth was eliminated in the Playoffs, despite a standout performance from Doolittle. His 37 points and 10 rebounds in the loss to Melbourne United remain one of the most dominant displays of his NBL career.
Now preparing for his third season in red, Doolittle says the decision to re-sign was an easy one.
“The fans, the coaching staff, and just being familiar with the city made it almost a no-brainer,” he said.
Although the departure of Bryce Cotton to the Adelaide 36ers is a major blow, the Wildcats have secured key signings, including star big man Jo Lual-Acuil Jr. Rising talent Ben Henshall has committed for NBL26, and Doolittle’s fellow import Dylan Windler is determined to raise his game.
“I’m looking forward to taking a leap this year,” Windler said.
“Coming into my second season, I’m more comfortable, not just with the NBL, but with our system here.”
Perth’s build-up to the new season begins at the Blitz against Melbourne on August 27, before hosting an international tournament featuring Japanese teams and the South East Melbourne Phoenix from September 12.
