“Hoopers respect real hoopers, and they’ve got some really good basketball players out here.”

Two-time NBA All-Star Isaiah Thomas says he’s very much open to the possibility of playing in the NBL.

Visiting Australia for two fan events over the past week, Thomas was full of praise for the league and stated “I’m available” when asked if he’d consider taking his talents to the NBL.

“I love playing the game of basketball and I want to continue my career,” he told SEN Tasmania.

“I’m just weighing the options up what makes sense for me moving forward, but I’m not turning down no offers down here. I’m available.

“You hear a lot of good things about the NBL.

“The NBL is something that’s popular and people talk about, especially in the states.

Thomas said his ultimate goal was to get back to the NBA, where he played over 550 games, most recently lining up throughout the 2021-2022 campaign for the Charlotte Hornets.

He averaged 17.7 points a game across an NBA career spanning 12 seasons.

“I’m 35 years old. I’m in great shape. I’m 100% healthy,” he continued.

“I’m trying to do whatever I can to stay ready.

“Just to be on the professional level, whether it’s the NBA or overseas. I just love the game of basketball and I want to be a part of it.”
