New Zealand development player Alex McNaught has signed on with the club for a further three seasons

New Zealand development player Alex McNaught has signed on with the club for a further three seasons after an impressive debut campaign with his hometown club.

The guard made 12 appearances across NBL23, which included logging crucial minutes in a pair of Playoff games against Tasmania.

His performance in New Zealand’s Round 3 against South East Melbourne quickly earned him cult hero status among the Breakers fanbase – a fanbase he was a part of growing up.

“After my year with the Breakers my confidence and overall offensive savviness have picked up a lot,” McNaught said.

“My goal with this new contract extension is to try and cement my place in the team and play consistent minutes.

“With Mody showing his trust by offering me this extension I know I will make leaps and bounds in the future.”

Head coach Mody Maor says he’s excited to see further development in the young guard.

“There’s still a lot of areas which we want Alex to improve during the New Zealand NBL,” Maor said.

“He’s a kid who plays with intensity and effort, toughness and grit.

“I know he will put in the effort to the point where he will become an even better player next season.”

NBL Free Agency kicks off on March 30.
