The Australian Boomers put their unbeaten FIBA Asia Cup run on the line against the Philippines in the Quarter-Finals, with Jaylin Galloway leading the charge and Justin Brownlee looming as a key threat.

The Australian Boomers will face the Philippines in the Quarter-Finals of the FIBA Asia Cup, with tip-off set for 9pm AEST on Wednesday, August 12.

The Philippines booked their spot after defeating Saudi Arabia on Tuesday morning (Australian time), setting up a clash with the two-time tournament winners.

They emerged from the group stage with just one win from three games, including an eight-point loss to an NBL-stacked New Zealand side.

Veteran forward Justin Brownlee has been their offensive focal point, posting 29 points against Saudi Arabia and 37 against the Tall Blacks. He looms as a major challenge for the Boomers’ defence, alongside Dwight Ramos, who is averaging 17.3 points per game.

The Boomers enter the Quarter-Finals unbeaten, having accounted for Korea, Lebanon and Qatar. Jaylin Galloway has been the standout performer, averaging 18 points per game, while reported Cairns Taipans recruit Reyne Smith and marquee man Jack McVeigh have both been lethal from beyond the arc.

New Zealand will meet either Japan or Lebanon in Thursday night’s Quarter-Final, with the possibility of a trans-Tasman Final looming on Monday, August 18, if both teams continue their winning runs.
