The calm before the strike: Taipans hint at big plays

"The 'white noise' of this off-season will be a distant memory very soon."
Big moves are brewing in Cairns, with the Taipans hinting that major signings are just around the corner. According to the club, the "white noise" of the off-season will soon be nothing more than a "distant memory".
Club leaders have made it clear: the Taipans are all-in on chasing their first Championship. Being merely competitive is no longer enough.
“The Club has purposely taken its time to recruit the best team we can,” President Troy Stone said in a letter to members.
“We have a vision to 'win it all' this season. That will be very clear when the competition begins. Those that attended the Town Hall might remember I said, ‘when the cards start to fall, they will all start to fall very quickly.’”
“This isn’t an announcement, but I am pleased to share that is exactly what is happening right now. We have very exciting news in the pipeline, but there are a few boxes to tick first and a lot happening behind the scenes.
“It hasn’t just been a long off-season for our fans. We have all had to be very patient. It’s been the strategy. But I am confident the 'white noise' of this off-season will be a distant memory very soon.”
In four of the past five seasons, the Taipans have ended up in the bottom half of the ladder, with only two unsuccessful trips to the Championship Series in their 26-year history.
But all signs suggest this is a club ready to break through, no longer satisfied with being the underdog.
Cairns is exploring private ownership as it looks to usher in a bold new chapter and has reinstated Adam Forde as head coach after a brief departure earlier in the off-season.
With only Sam Waardenburg confirmed as a starter for NBL26, the Taipans are aggressively chasing top-tier imports and local talent to mount a genuine title run.
A new chapter is unfolding in Cairns. The only question now is what comes next.?
