“We have been absolutely blown away by the response and appetite for the inaugural HoopsFest."

The public demand for HoopsFest has officially reached fever pitch, with tonight’s WNBL/NBL RAC Arena double-header sold out.

The Red Army will be out in force and in full numbers as their Perth Wildcats open their NBL season against the South East Melbourne Phoenix at 6:30pm AWST. A WNBL Grand Final re-match between the Perth Lynx and Southside Flyers will take place at 4pm AWST.

“We have been absolutely blown away by the response and appetite for the inaugural HoopsFest and we couldn’t be prouder to officially declare Friday night’s blockbuster double-header at RAC Arena a sell-out,” NBL CEO David Stevenson said.

“The power of basketball is on full display at HoopsFest and tonight’s action being sold out showcases just how much of a force our sport is when it is united. With the breathtaking Boombox behind the basket at RAC Arena, the fan experience at HoopsFest is a once in a lifetime experience and we can’t wait for what promises to be an unforgettable night of action.

“None of this would be possible without the incredible and unwavering support of the Western Australian Government and Tourism WA, and we thank them greatly for helping make HoopsFest a massive success already.

NBA legends Carmelo Anthony and Kenny Smith, and tennis superstar Nick Kyrgios, will also be in attendance tonight as the stars come out for HoopsFest.

HoopsFest opened last night with a bang, as a capacity crowd at RAC Arena watched Melbourne United take down the Tasmania JackJumpers in the season opener, while award-winning DJ Hayden James entertained the crowd from the Boombox.

Fans from across the country were also tuned in, with the Championship Series re-match drawing a significantly larger average audience and reach than last season's opener and any other Thursday night regular season game from last season. The TV average audience was also on par with Game 1 of last season's Championship Series.

Tickets to Saturday and Sunday HoopsFest events are still available, including the HBF Stadium NBL double-header on Saturday night and the blockbuster Sydney Kings v Adelaide 36ers clash on Sunday afternoon at RAC Arena, which will see legendary coach Brian Goorjian return to the sidelines with the Kings.
