"I’ve seen him work in the NBA, seen him coach and develop talent. I have strong belief in his leadership."

The Brisbane Bullets are charting a fresh course for NBL26 under new head coach Stu Lash.

Owner Jason Levien is eager to see the impact his leadership can bring.

“He’s (Lash) got a brilliant basketball mind and a great demeanour with players, staff and coaches,” Levien said on NBL Now.

“I’ve seen him work in the NBA, seen him coach and develop talent. I have strong belief in his leadership.”

The Bullets recently announced that Darryl McDonald and Greg Vanderjagt would return as assistant coaches, a move that would help Lash transition into the new role.

“Working with D-Mac and Vandy, I think we’ve got the right pieces on the coaching staff to push us forward,” Levien continued.

“D-Mac is a legend with deep ties to the NBL and Australian basketball. Vandy’s been a Swiss Army knife for the club – taking on multiple roles including head coach, assistant and community roles. He’s matured and grown his skillset.

“Both are fantastic assets.”

The Bullets are now focused on rounding out their roster. With key players like Casey Prather, Tyrell Harrison, Mitch Norton and Sam McDaniel returning, Levien says they’re looking to add a bit of everything in the final pieces.

“We’re looking for scoring, defence and leadership,” he said.

“We need guys who understand the NBL – how physical and competitive it is – and who are willing to put the team first.

“If we bring in imports, we need to make sure they can adapt to this league and help us win, not just put up stats.”
