McVeigh catches fire in NBA audition

Jack McVeigh delivered 21 points in 27 minutes, connecting on four of six from beyond the arc.
If Jack McVeigh wanted to make a serious case for an NBA contract, he may have just done that.
Taking the floor for the Atlanta Hawks on Tuesday morning, Australian time, he delivered 21 points in 27 minutes, connecting on four of six from beyond the arc.
Add in 4 rebounds, 3 assists and a block, and it was a well-rounded performance from the Tasmania JackJumpers champion.
McVeigh is aiming to secure an NBA deal with a strong showing at Summer League in Vegas, just two weeks after being waived by the Houston Rockets.
“I’m focused, locked in on the NBA, baby,” the 29-year-old said last week. “I don’t know what my agent’s doing, but I’ve told him, ‘Do what you need to do, but leave me alone.’ I’m locked in. I’m taking it day by day. I’ve got a performance coach I’m working with, and we’re just focused on giving this my all and enjoying this process right here.”
New Chicago Bull Lachlan Olbrich also made a strong impression.
The Illawarra Hawks product filled the stat sheet with 12 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists, a steal and a block in a strong outing against Australian Johnny Furphy and Indiana.
Furphy turned in an equally strong performance, tallying 15 points, 6 rebounds, 2 steals, 2 blocks and a highlight-reel dunk.
The 2025 NBA Summer League starts from July 11, Australian time, with exclusive interviews and insights available on the NBL App and NBL.com.au.
