Toohey signs two-way deal with Warriors

Former NBL Next Star Alex Toohey has penned a two-year deal with NBA franchise, the Golden State Warriors.
Former NBL Next Star and Sydney King Alex Toohey has signed a two-way deal with the Golden State Warriors.
The Canberra-born forward, who played 59 games for the Kings across two seasons in the NBL, was unveiled on Tuesday as one of two two-way players, alongside Pat Spencer, for the Warriors this coming 2025-26 campaign.
This comes after the 21-year-old, who averaged 9.2 points, 3.9 rebounds and one assist per game in the NBL, was selected with the 52nd pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, which the Warriors acquired from the Phoenix Suns .
Toohey, who won the NBL25 Next Generation Award and played at the 2023 Nike Hoop Summit World Team, played for the Warriors at the 2025 NBA Summer League in Las Vegas and is currently taking part in his first NBA training camp with Steve Kerr's side.
The Warriors, featuring NBA All Stars Stephen Curry, Draymond Green and Jimmy Butler, play five pre-season games, starting from their October 5 home clash with the Los Angeles Lakers, before tipping off their regular season on October 21 at Crypto.com Arena against the Lakers, headlined by NBA superstars LeBron James and Luca Doncic.
The Santa Cruz Warriors open their NBA G League campaign on Friday, November 7 with a home fixture against the Rip City Remix.
