"I definitely want to finish my career in the NBL."
Five-time NBL champion Trevor Gleeson has revealed he is open to a coaching return, declaring to Newscorp “if a great situation appeared, I’d listen”.
Gleeson parted ways with the Toronto Raptors in the off-season, despite still having another year to run on a three-year assistant coach contract.
He has since moved back to Australia and is free to accept a head coaching job, admitting he is interested in a return to the sidelines.
“I’ll see what happens. I’m open to everything, but that doesn’t mean I’m going to jump at something. It has to be right,” Gleeson told Newscorp.
“That might be the NBA, here, overseas in Asia ... I’ve said it before, but I definitely want to finish my career in the NBL.”
Gleeson will forever be linked with the Wildcats after he led them to five titles, while he is part of the NBL’s Perth broadcast team this season.
Australian Boomers coach Brian Goorjian is also without a head coaching gig. He is set to spend some time in America over the coming weeks to connect with Australian NBA stars ahead of next year’s Paris Olympics.
