The return of the Monsta: Adelaide re-signs Harrell

Thursday, May 29, 2025

The Adelaide 36ers have re-signed big Montrezl Harrell.

The Adelaide 36ers have locked in a monster piece to their championship puzzle, with the announcement of Montrezl Harrell returning to the club for NBL26.

After initially arriving last season as an injury replacement, Harrell would end up completing the NBL25 season and being rewarded with a place on the All-NBL Second Team.

The 31-year-old was a dominant force for the 36ers, putting up over 20 points and nine rebounds per game.

“Montrezl is a unique piece in the NBL with his size, power and overall skillset,” 36ers General Manager of Basketball, Matt Weston said.

“There’s nobody like him in this competition and we saw it first-hand last season, he’s hard to stop.”

Harrell is the second big signing in the last seven days for Adelaide after they announced the bombshell news of five-time MVP Bryce Cotton joining on a multi-year deal.

Harrell will re-unite with Cotton, who both have a strong history together since their college time during the powerhouse Big East era, with Harrell at Louisville and Cotton playing for Providence.

“We’ve really reworked our roster but he fits because of his unique skillset,” Head Coach, Mike Wells said.

“His basketball IQ will allow us to play different ways. The player combinations with him involved will be difficult for teams to handle."
