Bogut: 36ers shocked the league

Tuesday, May 27, 2025
"They continue to put together big-name rosters … they’ve now gone and got one of the best players to ever play."
Andrew Bogut has praised Adelaide’s front office for pulling off what many consider the biggest Free Agency signing in NBL history - landing Bryce Cotton.
Cotton signed with the 36ers on a three-year deal on Thursday evening, catching just about everyone in the industry off-guard.
“I give sh*t to Adelaide at times, but you’ve pulled the wool over everyone’s eyes and the bombshell of the off-season and the last five years,” the Sydney Kings part-owner and assistant coach said on his Rogue Bogues podcast.
“They’ve signed a multiple-time league MVP to a team that had turmoil, has not had really any positive news.
“They continue to put together big-name rosters … they’ve now gone and got one of the best players to ever play in the NBL. You’ve got to give them credit, the way they’ve got this done.”
Bogut said the 36ers weren’t afraid to make significant moves in their chase for a Championship, with the likes of Dejan Vasiljevic, Isaac Humphries and Flynn Cameron all on big deals.
“They’ve gone out of their comfort zone, it’s going to hurt their salary cap, but the storylines you’re going to get … and everyone thought Bryce was gone,” he said.
“Adelaide’s going all in again … I know I give them sh*t, but this is a great move for them.”
The former Boomers star said keeping Cotton in the NBL was a huge coup for both the league and club.
Isaac White, Matt Kenyon and Michael Harris have also signed with the 36ers in the off-season, as they look to win their first Championship since 2002.
