McDowell-White to dictate next Bullets move

“I’m just worried they might have put their eggs in that basket hoping it can come true."
While the Brisbane Bullets have one eye on locking-in key imports at Summer League, they also aren't giving up on highly-touted free agent Will McDowell-White, placing majority of their hopes on this stellar signing ahead of the ultimate shopping spree.
McDowell-White, who was one of the League’s top shooting guards in NBL24 when he played for the New Zealand Breakers, is at the top of the Bullets’ priority list, and if all goes to plan, their roster would begin to take shape.
“They are still looking at Will McDowell-White for that point guard spot. That is someone who they’d love to fill that spot with,” ESPN’s Olgun Uluc said on The Marketplace.
The Bullets finished eighth last season with the Hawks and Taipans behind them.
With all eyes on the 27-year old, 2018 NBL champion Pete Hooley said the signing of McDowell-White would dictate their next steps on the remaining roster spots. But doubt looms as it is reported the Bullets might not be fully represented at the NBA’s Summer League which starts on July 10.
“I’m just worried they might have put their eggs in that basket hoping it can come true,” Hooley said.
“Jason Levien said on NBL Now a couple of weeks ago that he would potentially be at Summer League, but Stu Lash won’t be there. They were hoping to have a lot of things done prior to that happening, if that hadn’t eventuated, Summer League days are ticking away.
“For them to try and get all of that sped up in the process waiting on Will McDowell-White, I hope there’s the backup plans in place. I’m sure there are, but it is harder if you’re not there in person to do that.”
Derek Rucker added: “If they don’t get Will McDowell-White, which will be a blow to them again, what do they do for their style of play? It’s very unlikely that you’ll be able to get two imports that are going to be able to impact defensively to the extent that they need.
"Maybe they’re going to have to do an “Adelaide Lite” and say: let’s just go and score points and see if you can catch us."
