The sixth sense: Phoenix secure their spark

Two-time NBL champion Angus Glover has re-signed with the South East Melbourne Phoenix on a two-year deal.
The South East Melbourne Phoenix have secured Angus Glover on a two-year deal, keeping him at the club until the end of the Hungry Jack’s NBL28 season.
Glover is currently enjoying a career-best season, which culminated in him being awarded the league’s Best Sixth Man, the first Phoenix player to achieve the feat.
The two-time champion has scored more points, collected more rebounds and made more threes than ever before in his eight NBL seasons and has become a pivotal part of Josh King’s offence.

A fan favourite in the Heartland, the Australian Boomer said the decision to remain with the club was a no-brainer.
“I’m really excited to get this deal done and continue on the upward trajectory that we’re on – we're hellbent on bringing a championship back to the South East, and we’ve got a big few weeks ahead of us,” Glover said.
“From the day I walked in the doors at the Phoenix, I’ve been embraced by the team, the front office and the fans, and I look forward to repaying that faith on court in the next few years.”
Phoenix General Manager of Basketball Operations Simon Mitchell said getting Glover’s signature was a great coup for the club.
“Angus is one of the best shooters in the game, but he’s also one of the great team men and a great glue guy,” Mitchell said.
“He is someone who was coveted by most clubs across the league, and we’re ecstatic that he is committed to the journey we’re on at the Phoenix.
“He’s in our leadership group, but we’re also excited to see him continue to evolve as a leader of our club into the future.”
The re-signing of Glover sees him join Nathan Sobey, Jordi Hunter, Owen Foxwell, DJ Mitchell, and Ellis Bigger (club option) on Josh King’s roster for next season.
Glover and his Phoenix play Adelaide in Game 3 of their Playoff Series from 7.30pm AEDT on Tuesday, live on ESPN.
