The New Zealand Breakers have announced the key signing of guard Dejan Vasiljevic on a one-year deal.

Vasiljevic, a premier sharpshooter and a two-time NBL champion, joins the Breakers following a standout tenure with the Adelaide 36ers, helping them reach the Hungry Jack’s NBL26 Championship Series.

During his six years in the League, the former Sydney King has developed into one of the NBL’s most lethal marksmen, with a career three-point percentage consistently near 38 per cent.

His arrival marks a significant milestone in the club’s recruitment strategy, as they look to build upon the 2025-26 campaign, which included winning the inaugural NBL Ignite Cup.

"DJ is a proven winner and a player who thrives under pressure, in big moments," Breakers President of Basketball Operations Dillon Boucher said.

"His ability to stretch the floor and his leadership perfectly align with the style of play we have established here in Auckland."

Australian Boomer Vasiljevic is excited to bring his 14.9 points per game to New Zealand next season, where the 29-year-old will join Parker Jackson-Cartwright.

"I am incredibly excited to join the Breakers and become part of the whānau,” Vasiljevic said.

“This club has a prestigious history and with a clear vision for the future that I want to be a part of.”

Vasiljevic and Jackson-Cartwright will be joined by Sam Mennenga, Reuben Te Rangi, Izayah Le’Afa.

"Securing a marquee player of DJ’s calibre demonstrates that the Breakers are a premier destination for the best talent in the league," Club Chairman and Owner Marc Mitchell said.

"We know our fans will embrace him as one of our own as we strive to compete for a Championship."
