The Tasmania JackJumpers have mutually parted ways with NBL24 Champion and Most Improved Player Sean Macdonald, allowing him to “pursue other opportunities”.

Macdonald played 86 games for the JackJumpers, averaging 6.5 points and 2 assists per game. His most impactful campaign came in NBL25, when he averaged 11.2 points and 3.8 assists.

The club announced the news on Saturday.

“Sean Macdonald and the Club have mutually parted ways to allow him to pursue other opportunities ahead of NBL27,” the JackJumpers said via X.

“The Tasmania JackJumpers sincerely thank Sean Macdonald for his time at the club and wish him all the best for his future.”

Macdonald is on track to play in NBL27 after straining his ACL during rehabilitation work in April, following an ACL rupture while playing for the Australian Boomers in July 2024.

“Sean has been a leading example of the grit and grind that our club is built on,” the club’s General Manager of Basketball Operations Darren Smith said.

“We have watched him grow from a development player into a valuable rostered player, showing immense mental fortitude in the face of his Anterior Cruciate Ligament injuries.”

Macdonald expressed his gratitude to the club.

“I’m thankful to everyone for making me feel so welcome and supporting me,” he said.

“I’ve really grown and developed as a player and a person, and I’ll be eternally grateful for that.”
