South East Melbourne Phoenix Next Star, Malique Lewis, is on track to be one of the best stories of this NBA Draft as his stock continues to gather momentum in recent weeks.
ESPN is reporting the 21-year-old has a workout with the Los Angeles Lakers scheduled for Tuesday, which will be his sixth and final opportunity to impress clubs before the Draft.
The Trinidad and Tobago product is coming off an exceptional performance at the EuroCamp in Treviso, guiding the Next Stars to a successful tournament and earning himself an All-Eurocamp selection in the process. He averaged 12 points, 4.7 assists and 1.7 steals across the week and shot 50 per cent from the three.
Lewis has completed workouts with the Cleveland Cavaliers, Boston Celtics, Phoenix Suns, Dallas Mavericks and Minnesota Timberwolves in the past week, with the NBA Draft scheduled to begin on June 24 in Brooklyn.
After a strong two seasons for the Phoenix, Lewis is currently projected just outside the second round on ESPN's top-100 of best available prospects - a number that could well change before Draft night.
