Talking points

Injury concerns
The Wildcats will be sweating on the health of Dylan Windler ahead of Saturday’s game, after the star forward limped off the court following the final play of the game on Wednesday.

It had been well known that he has been managing plantar fasciitis in recent weeks and if he can’t take the floor in Game 2, it would be bleak for the Wildcats.

He was deemed the key x-factor of his team, and he showed exactly why with some timely baskets.

Rust or just warming up?
The Sydney Kings might have dodged a bullet in Game 1, with 56 lead changes throughout their battle with Perth.

It had been almost three weeks since the Kings had played their last regular season game and whether it was a little bit of rust or they were just getting warmed up, they may flick a switch from here on out.

While Kendric Davis was at his brilliant best, along with Torrey Craig, history would tell us that the Kings have many more levels to go to.

What they're saying

Wildcats coach John Rillie on why he's confident going into Game 2:
"I'm proud of how we competed for 40 minutes but if you want to take the next step there were moments with how we finished the first two quarters, and opportunities we needed to seize throughout the game.

"We saw when we can compete for a good portion of the game that we're as good as anyone in the league, but then when we have lapses it's not so much the case.

"By the end of the season, we were in a nice groove and it took us a couple of games to get back into our rhythm and this was our third one and we came out with the hunger and desire to compete against the league's best team."

Kings coach Brian Goorjian on the importance of winning Game 1:
"It really doesn't get better than that in a game like that where no one is getting stops in the fourth quarter and you're trying to find your best matchups, and we figured things out better in the second half.

"They [Perth] a're a first class operation and were on the climb, but this was a huge game for us because if you lose the first game of a three-game series you're in deep shit."
