Australia has ended its pre-Olympic preparations on the perfect note, with Patty Mills firing up.

Patty Mills has made a welcome return to form ahead of the Paris Olympics, as the Australian Boomers claimed an impressive win over Serbia in Abu Dhabi, 84-73.

Mills scored 28 points to go with five assists in the Boomers’ 11-point win, shooting seven-of-13 from the field, including four-of-seven from the three-point line.

The 35-year-old has come under fire for his recent form, prompting calls that he may be more suited coming off the bench. But he responded in the perfect way on Wednesday morning, Australian time.

The Australians went down by a point at half-time, but rallied in the second half, thanks to the efforts of Dante Exum (15 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists) and Josh Giddey (13 points, 6 rebounds).

It was the perfect finish to the Boomers’ Olympic preparations, following an equally solid display against USA the night previous.

NBA superstar Nikola Jokic finished the game with 14 points and 14 rebounds for Serbia, while Fililip Petrusev scored 17.

Australia now heads to Paris, where it takes on the second-ranked nation in the world, Spain, in its opening game on July 27.

AUSTRALIA 84 (Mills 28, Exum 15, Daniels 8)
SERBIA 73 (Petrusev 17, Jokic 14, Avramovic 12, Milutinov 12)
