Six-time NBL MVP Bryce Cotton will make his long-awaited Australian Boomers debut in July, during Perth’s FIBA World Cup Qualifiers against Guam and the Philippines.
The significance of this isn’t lost on the three-time champion himself, with Cotton saying, ‘it’s a surreal moment for him and his family’.
Equally, current Boomer and Atlanta Hawks star Dyson Daniels, who knows what the 33-year-old guard can add to their green and gold program.
“It's huge for us, Bryce is obviously super talented,” Daniels said via basketball.com.au.
“It’s going to be really good to have him on the team, and I think he's exactly what we need at the moment.
“A guy that can really score the ball, and is obviously a huge threat.
“It’s exciting he’s for the first time in those upcoming games too.”
This positive sentiment was recently echoed by Olympic medal-winning Boomer Jock Landale.
“It’s awesome [that it’s finally come to fruition], as there’s obviously been a lot of talk about it for a while,” Landale said in an interview with Sporting News Australia.
“I've been at the mercy of Bryce Cotton once or twice myself and have had the joy of watching him go.
“He's an incredible player and brings a lot to any team that he's on.
“It'll be exciting to see him kind of put the green and gold on and see where it ends up, as he’s a hell of a player.”
Cotton and the Boomers’ fixtures on July 3 and 5 will take place at RAC Arena.
