JackJumpers development player Tre Armstrong has been granted a release from his NBL24 contract.

The Tasmania JackJumpers have granted the release of development player Tre Armstrong from his NBL24 contract, at his request.

Armstrong spent last season representing the California Baptist Lancers alongside brother and Cairns guard Taran, and Adelaide development player Keanu Rasmussen.

He has been playing for the North West Tasmania in NBL1 South since his return to Australia.

“Tre has decided he needs some time away from the game at the conclusion of the NBL1 season, rather than pursuing a DP contract,” JackJumpers Co-CEO Jorrick Chivers said.

“Whilst we were looking forward to having Tre as a part of our group, we understand his need for some time away from the game and he has the full support of the organisation as he decides on the next step in his career.

“He is a great young man and we will certainly mill his talents in our group, but we also understand that being a JackJumper and a professional athlete his a huge commitment. We completely understand Tre’s reasoning and reassessment of his contract and wish him all the very best.

“We will be keeping in touch with Tre and leaving the door open for him to be involved with the club in the future.”

Armstrong’s departure now leaves the club with one development player spot to fill on their NBL24 roster.
