For Luke Travers, the time is now to take the next step in his career.

Luke Travers has revealed his decision to look at options on the Free Agency market is all about opportunity. For the Perth local, the time is now to take the next step in his career.

While he’s taken huge strides at the Wildcats, Travers admits playing alongside a player as dominant as Bryce Cotton has made it difficult to become the main man.

“He’s (Cotton) the best player in the league and will be for at least the next couple of years. He deserves that. Obviously, trying to get to the next level, that makes it hard,” Travers told The West Australian.

“To get a different role with the ball in my hands a little bit more is something I need to make that jump. I’m going to try and make the most of it.”

Travers said it was “time” to make the move away from Perth, as he looks to do whatever he can to follow in the footsteps of Xavier Cooks by heading to the NBA.

Named the Defensive Player of the Year at the Wildcats for NBL23, Travers’ focus is now on adding more elements to his game to become an all-round force.

Last year, the Cleveland Cavaliers drafted him with the 56th selection in the NBA Draft, and while a move to the States is the dream, the 21-year-old is keeping all options open. He has time on his side, and is sure to have plenty of interest from teams both locally and abroad.
