Cleveland Cavaliers General Manager Mike Gansey says Luke Travers has what it takes to feature for the NBA side.

Cleveland Cavaliers General Manager Mike Gansey has confirmed the NBA side is still keeping close tabs on Melbourne United talent Luke Travers.

The Cavaliers selected Travers with the 56th overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft, and the former Perth Wildcat played a key role in the club's NBA Summer League triumph this pre-season.

“We’re checking up on him via text, via call, checking his stats, watching his tape. I’m here, we’ve had other staff visit throughout the year,” Gansey told News Corp.

“We’re excited. He’s someone we think could be a future Cavalier at some point and that’s why we’re taking all the time to get him better.”

The 22-year-old moved to Melbourne United ahead of NBL24, and is currently averaging career-highs in points and rebounds per game.

“He’s just sneaky," Gansey continued. "[A] sneaky athlete, sneaky defender, sneaky shooter,”

United are currently first on the ladder with an 11-3 recordand face their Throwdown rivals, the South East Melbourne Phoenix, tonight at 7:30pm AEDT.
