Perth Wildcats youngster Luke Travers has improved massively this season according to NBL veteran and Brisbane Bullets star Jason Cadee.

Travers’ three-point shooting is one of his many improvements, with the 21-year-old becoming a marksman from beyond the arc in the second half of the season.

The Cleveland Cavaliers draftee impacts the game in numerous ways, leading to Cadee applauding his development in the league.

“I’ve left him open at times…he’s actually starting to knock them down over games now where it’s like do you give it to him,” Cadee said on The Huddle.

“I’ve always been a believer in let’s see if he’ll make them when the teams on the line but he’s starting to make a few, now you have to guard him.

“It really does freeze up teams when you have a guy like that and you use him in that space.”

Cadee spoke on Travers being an important asset to the ‘Cats heading into tonight’s Play-In Qualifier against the South East Melbourne Phoenix.

“With a guy like Luke as he’s starting to figure it out and mature, he’s got the skillset to be able to take on that,” Cadee said.

“He knows how to make extra pass and now he’s starting to knock down the three-balls and people give it to him.”

Wildcats coach John Rillie credited assistant Mike Kelly for finetuning Travers’ shot as the season has progressed.

Travers confirmed Kelly has played a key role in growing his three-point prowess.

“He (Kelly) has been huge, we have been doing about an hour after every practice, getting down to narrow points on my shot and it has been a lot of help,” Travers said.

“It is more of a mentality thing…I have a lot more confidence at the moment.”

The Phoenix and Wildcats battle tonight in the do-or-die Play-In Qualifier at 6:30pm AEDT live on ESPN via Kayo Freebies.
