Tall timber, big ambition: Rocco eyes Minnesota rise

"The biggest thing is working on my body and getting game time."
Australian teen prodigy Rocco Zikarsky has wasted no time settling into life in Minnesota after being selected with the 45th pick by the Timberwolves.
Speaking at his introductory press conference, the 18-year-old mentioned how excited he is for the new opportunity ahead and how ready he is to get to work.
"The biggest thing is working on my body and getting game time," he said.
"You know, it’s great to have the team in Iowa… and to be able to get down there and play some big minutes, hopefully. I think it will be great for my development.”
The 7’3” big man is the third tallest player listed in the NBA, placing him alongside elite company in Zac Edey and Victor Wembanyama.
Zikarsky believes the Timberwolves are the perfect place for him to improve, as he gets to learn from one of the league’s best big men.
"I’m really most excited to learn from Rudy," he added.
"You know, (he’s) a Defensive MVP four times, and to me that’s what I like.
"I like playing defence, so to learn from him will be awesome.”
Zikarsky will be looking to make a strong first impression as the Summer League tips off next week.
