South East Melbourne has announced the signing of highly-touted forward Austin Rapp to a one-year deal.

Rapp, who currently plays for Knox in NBL1 South, was a member of the Australia side that took out the Under 16 Asian Championships last year.

The 17-year-old was also a member of the Phoenix last season, having participated in the team's season in a train-on player capacity.

"We are excited to have Austin - a young player from the Heartland - staying home and continuing his journey with us," head coach Mike Kelly said.

"He has a unique skillset and feel for the game that will continue to grow with training and daily battles with the group."

"I'm excited to keep learning from 'Big Sauce' (Alan Williams) and Mitch Creek," Rapp added. "Also the new guys as well ... I am just thrilled to continue this journey.

"Mike and I get along very well, and he believes in my talents which is most important.

"He wants me to push everyone to become better, and also push myself to higher limits."

Rapp has joined Ben Ayre, Matt Kenyon, Gorjok Gak and Rhys Vague in committing to the side for NBL24.

Rapp joins Anzac Rissetto on South East Melbourne's development player list for NBL24, and has joined Ben Ayre, Matt Kenyon, Gorjok Gak and Rhys Vague in signing for the club.
