Sydney Kings forward Jaylin Galloway is eyeing an NBA return after being named FIBA Asia Cup MVP, with a breakout NBL26 season shaping as his launchpad.

Sydney Kings forward Jaylin Galloway is in career-best form and believes a strong season in NBL26 could propel him back to the next level.

"This is the most fun I've had playing basketball in a while," Galloway told ESPN.

"I'm hoping the next step is getting back to the NBA. It was a tough little rough patch for me, but it's been good to come back and get my mind right. [Brian Goorjian] has been helping me a lot, we've been working really hard in the off-season. So, the next step is getting back to the NBA."

The 22-year-old was named MVP of the FIBA Asia Cup after his incredible tournament, showcasing his full array of skills including a much improved outside shot that saw him connect on 67 per cent of his attempts throughout.

"It's my first Asia Cup, and it's great to get a gold medal, and I can't believe I got to do it with such a great group of guys. It's been a hell of a run," he continued.

While the Kings had their struggles last season, there was a moment where it looked to be turning in a positive direction, before Galloway suffered a season-ending shoulder injury.

The strenuous rehab, combined with his strong off-season in the NBL East, has prepared the athletic wing for a breakout campaign. Already one of the most athletic players in the league, with his continued improvement and level of confidence, the sky's the limit for the Kings’ star.

"It came from all the hard work he's put in," teammate Xavier Cooks said.

"I've been one of the guys who's been there all off-season watching this dude work. After his shoulder injury, he's been grinding every single day. I think the best thing that happened was him playing NBL1, learning to be the man, and how to be assertive.

"His confidence is running high, and it should be. This guy was an unbelievable beast all tournament. No-one could guard him. His three-ball was there. He's a hell of a player, and we're lucky to have him at the Kings... for life."
