"I am told though that he is flying to New Zealand this week so the door is potentially still open on him coming to the NBL."

The chances of Tacko Fall playing in the NBL are far from over with Overtime’s Jo Healy revealing the 7’6 (2.29m) giant is on his way to New Zealand to work out with the Breakers.

Fall joined the team in the USA for a series of games against NBA teams, but a quad injury prevented him from seeing any on court action.

“I am told though that he is flying to New Zealand this week so the door is potentially still open on him coming to the NBL,” Healy said.

“Obviously they would need to see how he fits in with the team, when he was over there [in the US], he was getting amongst it, he was working with the trainer, putting shots up all the time but just had that quad strain that couldn’t see him fully scrimmaging with the team.”

Healy said Fall is almost over the injury that stopped him from playing and he will likely be put through a series of workouts and scrimmages with the Breakers to make a call on him joining the side in the coming weeks.

“His timeline for return was about three weeks for that quad which comes to basically the end of this week so we will see what happens there but certainly one to watch in terms of Tacko possibly still coming to the NBL this season.”
