Talking points
History beckons
After an exciting first season of the Ignite Cup, the Final is finally here and an inaugural champion will be crowned on Sunday.
Both the 36ers and Breakers have earned their place in this Final and will want to ensure they etch their names into that new trophy.
Not to mention, there will be a record $400,000 prize pool on offer, with $300,000 of that going to the winners.
All eyes on Cotton
The five-time MVP sat out Adelaide’s clash with Perth on Friday night due to a back issue.
36ers coach Mike Wells said he’s hopeful to have his superstar back in the lineup on Sunday, but it will all depend on how his back responds.
If Cotton remains sidelined, it changed the whole complexion of this game, so stay tuned.
What they're saying
36ers coach Mike Wells on qualifying for the Ignite Cup Final:
“[The Ignite Cup Final] is something that we played for.
“This is just another thing at the end of the season that this group has been exceptional through the year and has won the right to sort of play in that game and play for some extra money.
“I couldn't be happier that we're in it and we're representing Adelaide and the 36ers, and I think it's going to be a really, really unique opportunity for the group.”
Breakers big man Sam Mennenga on the record prize pool:
“I don't really care about the money, but I'd rather us have some money than [Adelaide] have it.
“[In saying that] we don’t need any extra motivation and we’re going to do everything we can to end the season on a positive note.”
