Froling’s best is yet to come

Froling’s best is yet to come

Monday, September 15, 2025

Harry Froling has shed 33kg in a remarkable comeback journey, earning a spot with the Illawarra Hawks as they prepare for the FIBA Intercontinental Cup and a championship banner night at home.

A year ago, Harry Froling tipped the scales at 160kg after undergoing life-saving brain surgery.

After an inspiring comeback that has seen him shed 33kgs and earn a spot with the Illawarra Hawks as an injury replacement, Froling’s NBL return is close to complete, with his team preparing to compete in Singapore’s FIBA Intercontinental Cup this week.

“I love being back around the team environment here at the Hawks, it’s a privilege to play again,” the NBL’s 2019 Rookie of the Year winner told CODE Sports.

“I didn’t come into this pre-season fully ready to go, because 12 months ago I was 160 kilograms and I’m still working at that and getting better.

“I want to keep building because I’m still not a finished product.”

After the FIBA Intercontinental Cup, Froling’s Hawks will face the JackJumpers on Saturday, September 27, at the WIN Entertainment Centre, where the club will raise their NBL25 championship banner to the rafters before tip-off.

That Round 2 Hungry Jack's NBL fixture will be broadcast live on ESPN from 8pm AEST.
