And then there were six: Teams locked in for Finals

15 Feb 2026

The six teams for this season’s Finals have been locked in, with plenty of jockeying to come during the last two rounds of the campaign.

The six teams for the NBL26 Hungry Jack’s Finals are officially locked in after Saturday night’s results.

With New Zealand losing to Adelaide and Illawarra falling to Sydney on Friday night, the Tasmania JackJumpers have locked in their position in the post-season.

While the JackJumpers will finish the season in sixth, there’s still plenty of jockeying to play out for the other five Finals-bound sides.

Adelaide, Sydney and South East Melbourne are all pressing hard for a top two spot, while Perth is trying to keep its nose in front of Melbourne United for fourth.

Sunday’s matchups will have a huge impact on these standings too, because if United loses to Illawarra, their top four hopes will be over, and they will finish the 2025-26 season in fifth.

Sydney’s main focus is on finishing the regular season in first, which they’ll achieve if they defeat Perth and Brisbane in their final two games.

But one slip-up will open the door for Adelaide to claim top spot.

On the flip side, a Perth victory at Qudos Bank Arena on Sunday will cement the Wildcats’ spot in the top four, heading into Round 22.

With so much still to play out, all signs lead to an exciting final two rounds of hoops.

Sunday’s double-header tips off at 2.30pm AEDT with Melbourne host Illawarra before Sydney takes on Perth, with both games live on ESPN and Channel 10.
