"To have the support of ownership and the front office is paramount in achieving long-term success."

The Wildcats have put their faith in coach John Rillie for the long-term, announcing a three-year contract extension on the eve of the season.

The head coach will be with Perth until at least the end of the 2027/28 season after leading the club to a second-placed finish and play-off run last season.

“To have the support of ownership and the front office is paramount in achieving long-term success,” Rillie said.

“It’s exciting to be able to continue to grow what we have been building over the last couple years.”

It’s the first significant move by new owner Mark Arena.

“We’re rapt to have ‘JR’ continuing on,” Arena said.

“His passion and energy for the job is second to none and we know he’s the man to take us forward after putting the building blocks in place during his first two seasons in charge.”

The Wildcats begin their season against South-East Melbourne Phoenix at RAC Arena on Friday as part of the inaugural HoopsFest in Perth.
