The Adelaide 36ers could be without star Isaac Humphries for an extended period, as reports suggest the big man's knee injury is worse than expected.

Humphries is yet to play a game in the Hungry Jack's NBL27 Season. As first reported by 9 News Adelaide's Will Crouch and later by foxsports.com.au's Jai Shadlow, he and the 36ers are now weighing up the best way forward with the injury.

The club is reportedly seeking a second medical opinion in Melbourne, with multiple doctors exploring the best path back to the court and several scenarios, including season-ending surgery, potentially on the table.

Adelaide is also reportedly exploring contingency plans, including short- and long-term replacements, should that eventuate, as it attempts to go one step further than last season and win a championship.

Six-year NBL veteran Humphries, who produced 12.6 points, 5 rebounds and 1.5 blocks in NBL26, is in the final year of his three-year deal with the Sixers.

Adelaide plays Illawarra on Friday night at the WIN Entertainment Centre from 7.30pm AEST, live on ESPN.
