Perth Wildcats captain Jesse Wagstaff is a game-time decision for the club's Round 4 fixture with Cairns on Friday night.
The six-time NBL champion suffered a blow to the throat at training on Tuesday and sought advice from specialists during the week, amid fears he had suffered a fractured larynx.
The 39-year-old travelled to Cairns on Thursday with the team and will be assessed pre-game on Friday.
Coach John Rillie, during this week's media availability, said that Wagstaff’s leadership has been integral in the opening rounds as the team attempts to build a strong defensive focus.
“In every game so far, he’s come on in that initial burst and he’s had some type of hustle play,” Rillie said.
“It’s like if that guy is doing it, we’d all better jump on board. He’s leading from the front as he always does.”
Friday's Round 4 fixture tips off at 7.30pm AEDT, live on ESPN.
