Fresh off signing on for an 18th season, Jesse Wagstaff has opened up on his decision to return to the Perth Wildcats.

The six-time NBL champion says as long as he's still contributing, he'll continue be a Wildcat well beyond his current 540-game tally.

“It’s one of the best jobs in the world, so why not [re-sign]?,” Wagstaff said in an interview with Channel 9.

“I still feel like I’m contributing. I’m finding ways to reinvent myself.

“I think if people don’t realise I’m still a professional athlete, I still can jump … I just choose not to.

“[Honestly] I don’t feel 40… I’ve been very lucky with injuries and my body feels fine.

“I think everyone, even for the last five to 10 years, has been waiting for me to fall apart.”

Wagstaff, who thought his time was up in the NBL ‘five or six years ago’, is joined by Kristian Doolittle, Jo Lual-Acuil Jr., Dylan Windler, Ben Henshall, Jaron Rillie and Cameron Huefneron the Wildcats roster for next season.
