Jack’s back: Marquee man returns for must-win clash

Cairns are banking on Jack McVeigh’s return to spark a turnaround as they battle injuries and fight to revive their faltering NBL26 campaign.

With the Cairns Taipans desperate for a win, Jack McVeigh could be just the man to reverse the trend.

At two wins, seven losses on the season, the Taipans’ campaign is hanging on a knife’s edge, but the return of their marquee man will almost certainly help the cause.

McVeigh hasn’t played since October 12 due to a wrist injury, with Cairns losing every game in that time. His return couldn’t come soon enough.

The Taipans’ marquee man will be joined by injury replacement player Mojave King for the trip to Brisbane, while Kody Stattmann (hamstring) and Alex Higgins-Titsha (wrist) join Sam Waardenburg (ankle) on the sidelines due to injury.

Cairns takes on Brisbane at 7.30pm AEDT on Thursday night at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre, live on ESPN.
