Talking points

Defensive discipline
The Phoenix will be hoping to avoid any foul trouble to begin their do-or-die Game 2 on Saturday night, after the early whistles on two key players derailed their start to the Series.

Both Owen Foxwell and John Brown III found themselves with two early fouls and had to either sit on the bench or play conservatively in Game 1 which allowed the 36ers to get on a roll.

MVP encore
Bryce Cotton delivered one of his best post-season performances in Game 1, beginning with a scintillating 16-point first quarter, where he didn’t miss a shot.

The six-time MVP put his team on his back and gave them the upper hand in the series, and will now be looking to repeat that on the road.

What they're saying

Phoenix coach Josh King on how excited his club are for Game 2:
"We get an opportunity to play in front of our fans, and we will keep playing the same way [we always have], which is fast.

"It's do-or-die for us now and I know our guys will be ready and up for the challenge."

36ers coach Mike Wells on the contributions from all his players in the Game 1 win:
"That was a real Playoff game and I'm super proud of our guys to play like that after so many days off to make plays and find a way to win.

"It was a group effort and the communication from everyone showed how organised we were and how everyone was on the same page.

"What we did [on Tuesday night] is a product of us practicing and people have taken swings at us, but believe in them 100 per cent and the group's been outstanding and everyone has accepted their role."
