Wildcats star reveals late-season injury struggles

Dylan Windler has revealed he played through pain and a significant late-season injury.
Perth Wildcats star Dylan Windler has revealed he played the final part of the season with a torn plantar fascia, severely hampering his ability to perform at his best.
Windler had uncharacteristically quiet games against both Brisbane and Adelaide on February 13 and 20, two weeks after suffering the injury in late January.
He missed the Wildcats' clash against Sydney on February 15.
“I’ve been pretty banged up for the last month. I had a little tear in my plantar fascia and I was dealing with that foot pain,” Windler said.
The 29-year-old is the one of the Wildcats’ most important players and says he made of the most of the FIBA Break to aid his recovery.
“I was able to get a little bit of a shot over the break and a little bit of rest with that combined has helped me out and I’ve been able to ramp up over these last few days and I’m feeling good again now,” he said.
“This time off has definitely helped.”
Windler has averaged 12.9 points, 7 rebounds and 2 assists across the Hungry Jack’s NBL26 Season. He also excels against Perth’s Seeding Qualifier opponent, South East Melbourne, with averages of 19 points and 9 rebounds a game in the teams’ matchups this year.
The West Australian reported Windler’s teammate David Okwera is currently recovering from the same injury and was doubtful for Wednesday night’s game.
Perth takes on the Phoenix at John Cain Arena on Wedneday night from 7.30pm AEDT, live on ESPN.
