Cairns star 'wouldn’t want to be anywhere else'

Cairns Taipans star Jack McVeigh says the 'tropical, laid back environment is where he belongs'.
Taipans star Jack McVeigh is loving his time in Cairns, both on and off the court.
So much so, the former Houston Rocket told CODE Sports, "we [he and his family] wouldn’t want to be anywhere else."
And as much as his family are enjoying their stay in the tropical, laid-back environment, it's also given the 29-year-old Olympian a chance to expand his game.
“Having the ball in my hands at the start of possessions is something that has never happened throughout my whole career,” McVeigh said to CODE Sports.
“I’m learning how to make the right play and when to be aggressive, knowing when teams are sending help, it’s just an awesome learning experience.
“I feel myself getting better every single game, and every single day in training, getting reps on reps on reps.”
NBL24 champion McVeigh is averaging 17.5 points, 7.3 rebounds and 5.3 assists per game, and his 2-2 Taipans next host the Perth Wildcats on Friday night, tipping off at 7.30pm AEDT, live on ESPN.
