Star not getting caught up in MVP race

Adelaide superstar Bryce Cotton said he’s ‘leaving all the MVP talk up to the voters’, ahead of his Round 22 fixture with Perth.
The Hungry Jack’s NBL26 MVP race is going down to the wire, with Adelaide’s Bryce Cotton and Sydney’s Kendric Davis right in the mix for the League's top honour.
With both players having just one regular-season game remaining, everyone is having their say on who they think should be the MVP.
Adelaide coach Mike Wells said “the race was over”, before Kings coach Brian Goorjian reminded everyone “there’s no one he’d trade in the league Kendric for”.
Now one of the men in question has chimed in on the topic.
“I leave [all that talk] up to the voters; that's above my pay grade,” Cotton said on SEN SA.
Cotton appreciated the praise from Wells, with the pair enjoying a bond forged during their time together at Utah.
“It [those comments] feels good obviously because me and Mike have a pretty good rapport,” he said.
“That's important, not [so much] for the sake of awards, but when it comes to winning games, it’s important players have a great relationship with their coach.
“I’m happy about [those comments and where we’re at as a team].”
More NBL heavyweights have weighed in on the MVP race.
Brisbane’s Casey Prather, dual Olympian Mark Worthington and Australian Boomer Dejan Vasiljevic have backed Cotton for a sixth crown, while Perth great Ricky Grace says Davis should take home his first Andrew Gaze Trophy.
South East Melbourne's Nathan Sobey and Perth's Kristian Doolittle are also among the top chances, amongst a list of 11 nominees.
