The Brisbane Bullets have added another key name to their roster for the Hungry Jack’s NBL27 Season, securing the signature of Lat Mayen.

The 6’9” forward boasts four years of NBL experience with Perth, Adelaide 36ers and Cairns Taipans, making 30 appearances in his most recent campaign with the Wildcats.

“I’m really excited for this next chapter with the Bullets,” Mayen said.

“I’ve had the chance to learn from different programs across my journey, and I feel hungry to keep improving and contribute to this team that Coach (Will) Weaver is assembling.

“Brisbane is a great basketball city, and I’m looking forward to getting to work and connecting with the group and the fans.”

Weaver pointed to Mayen’s energy and ability to handle multiple matchups in making him a key target in the off-season.

“We’re excited to welcome Lat and his family to Brisbane. He brings a defensive mindset and plays with an edge that I know Bullets fans can get behind,” Weaver said.

“His versatility is something unique within the NBL and I am looking forward to him contributing in many ways on the court and in the community.”

Weaver spoke highly of Mayen during an episode of NBL Now which will be released later on Thursday.

“A young man that I have been a fan of for a while," he said of the 27-year-old.

“I brought him to his first NBL training camp years back. He's 27, but his potential is still sky high. And I think when I've evaluated the contexts of the places he's played over the past several years, there's been circumstances that have prevented him, I think, from reaching the potential that he knows he has and that he's hungry to prove.

"So I'm feeling confident that we're going to give him the right opportunity to unlock some of that.”

The Bullets are still in the early stages of their roster build, but have plenty of experience on the books, with Tyrell Harrison, Mitch Norton and Sam McDaniel all secured for NBL27, alongside youngsters Jacob Holt and Harry Rouhliadeff.
