"I'm happy for the win but personally I don't feel like I performed well."

New Illawarra Hawks import Darius Days impressed in his club debut at HoopsFest, but in an ominous warning to the rest of the league, the 24-year-old believes he can play much better.

The Hawks stormed home to a 102-75 win over the Cairns Taipans, with Days amassing a double-double of 20 points and 12 rebounds.

Despite leading the team in scoring, Days is looking for a better performance out of himself in Friday night’s home opener against Brisbane.

"I'm happy for the win but personally I don't feel like I performed well. I can get better and will get better but it was important to win, and we did, so I'm happy," Days said via the Illawarra Mercury.

It’s a scary proposition for opposing sides, with Justin Tatum’s Hawks already looking like one of the NBL’s most dangerous sides.

Illawarra faces Brisbane at 7:30pm AEST on Friday night, live on ESPN.
