Simmons would “dominate” the NBL

Simmons would “dominate” the NBL

Friday, September 12, 2025

Could Ben Simmons take the court in the Hungry Jack's NBL?

Could Ben Simmons’ next basketball move be to the NBL?

NBA retirement talks have sparked speculation of a possible return home to Australia for the former number one pick, and Damon Lowery says it would be an absolute coup for the League.

“If he can come back here and come back home to play … he would dominate … dominate," Lowery decalred on NBL Overtime.

“Six-foot-10 point guard who can guard absolutely everybody … it would be too easy for Ben if he was back here playing NBL.”

Injuries have hampered Simmons’ availability in recent years, but former MVP Derek Rucker says less demand on his body in the NBL could prolong his career significantly.

“One, one-and-a-half games a week takes the load off his back,” Rucker said.

“He can manage and really curtail what we thought was going to be an all-time career.”

Simmons is a three-time NBA All-Star and Rookie of the Year, having been selected with the number one overall pick at the 2016 Draft.

The 29-year-old played his best basketball in Philadelphia, before spending time at Brooklyn and the Los Angeles Clippers in recent years.
