36ers stars to miss blockbuster with United

The Adelaide 36ers have been dealt a huge blow on the eve of the Hungry Jack's NBL27 Season.

Star duo John Jenkins and Isaac Humphries will both miss the team's season-opener against Melbourne United at John Cain Arena.

As revealed by Trevor Gleeson during his Friday media availability and first reported by 9 News Adelaide's Will Crouch, sharpshooting import Jenkins (back) and big man Humphries (knee) both won't suit up for the Round 1 clash.

"It's not an ideal world [to play without John and Isaac}m" Gleeson said during the media availability.

"Ice (Humphries) has some ongoing knee injuries and JJ's back seized up, so he's in a fair bit of pain, which saw us rule him out today.

"I hope [both are in mix for next game].

"You always want to have your best your best team on the floor, so we're just worry about this week and we'll see how it plans out next week."

Humphries' ongoing knee issue also kept him out of the CODE Sports NBL Blitz in Bendigo.
