The Adelaide 36ers have signed New Zealand international Corey Webster as an injury replacement, adding experience to a side that has started the season 2–3.
Webster joins the Sixers having won three NBL championships with the New Zealand Breakers, as well as three New Zealand NBL titles with the Wellington Saints, along with two NZNBL MVP awards (2014 and 2017).
To date, the 37-year-old has 13 Hungry Jack's NBL seasons to his name, including 11 with the Breakers and two with the Perth Wildcats, where he formed a strong backcourt pairing with current 36ers captain Bryce Cotton.
Since leaving the Wildcats at the end of NBL24, Webster has been playing for the Auckland Tuatara and Manawatu Jets in the NZNBL, averaging 18.7 points, 2.8 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game for the latter while shooting 40.2 per cent from three.
The 188cm guard also has more than 100 international games to his name for the Tall Blacks.
In August, he suited up alongside new 36ers teammate Flynn Cameron in a FIBA World Cup qualification game against Syria, scoring 22 points and recording five rebounds and three assists.
"Corey brings plenty of poise and experience to our group at a time when we're missing a lot due to injury," 36ers GM Matt Weston said.
"To have a player of his calibre come in and help with some ball handling and to keep defences honest because of his shooting ability will be of real value.
"That he already knows a couple of our players will hopefully mean he will settle into the group quickly.
"We're looking forward to welcoming Corey to Adelaide and getting him on the court when he's ready."
Adelaide, which is currently averaging the second-worst points per game (88.2) this season, will host Melbourne United for Ignite Cup points on Wednesday night, with a decision on Webster's availability to be made after his arrival.
That Ignite Cup fixture tips off at 7.30pm AEDT, live on ESPN.
