Why Williams Believes in Bullets

Despite an 0-4 start to the season, former NBL MVP Corey Williams is not giving up on the Brisbane Bullets.
Despite an 0-4 start to the season, former NBL MVP Corey Williams is not giving up on the Brisbane Bullets.
Williams says he is “not throwing in the towel on them” yet even though multiple players are not performing up to standard.
Star signing Aron Baynes has returned after being out of action for over a year, and guards Nathan Sobey and Tyler Johnson have not been playing to the best of their ability.
Williams has defended the star trio, saying they require time to work better as a unit.
“Baynes. Big name, we know this. Baynes ain’t play in how long…18 months,” Williams told NBL Overtime.
“Who is coming back on top of their game? He hasn’t got any touch. When will he start getting his touch? End of the season.
“Tyler Johnson’s new situation, he hasn’t gotten in sync yet, when are we going to see the best of him…towards the end (of the season).
"Sobey ain’t nowhere near Sobey right now. We know Nathan Sobey when he is 100%...when will we see him 100%? End of the season.”

The Bullets have also had a tough schedule with three games on the road and one at home against championship contenders Perth, Tasmania and Sydney twice.
“Their schedule is tough, give anybody that schedule, it could be that, if they’re not in sync,” Williams said.
NBL analyst Liam Santamaria said the Bullets’ defence is a major factor in the team not being in sync with each other and worries it could be too late once it clicks.
“For everybody’s sake and certainly the Bullets fans that they do find some chemistry and some form and get going, my only worry is, will it be too late?” Santamaria said.
“The problem is they’re not defending.
“The defensive rating numbers for the Bullets 117.4 points allowed per 100 possessions.
“You are not going to win any games if your defence is as leaky as this.”
