United Star: "I'm The Best Import"

Wednesday, September 21, 2022
Melbourne United import Rayjon Tucker has boldly declared himself as the best new player in the NBL this season.
Melbourne United import Rayjon Tucker has boldly declared himself as the best new import in the NBL this season.
The former Milwaukee Buck has brought his talents to Melbourne after a successful career to date in the NBA, where he’s turned out for Utah, Philadelphia and Denver, in addition to the Bucks, and the G-League.
The 24-year-old was reacting to Newscorp's import power rankings, where he was ranked fifth behind Alan Williams (SEM Phoenix), Jarrell Brantley (New Zealand), Tyler Johnson (Brisbane) and Derrick Walton Jr (Sydney).
"I’m the best import – no other new NBL import checks off as many boxes. It’s no disrespect to anyone else that’s above me, but I don’t feel like there is a new import better than me," Tucker told Newscorp.
Tucker and his new-look United side have struggled so far this pre-season, and suffered a 13-point loss to the Illawarrra Hawks in their opening game of the NBL Blitz.
Despite missing running mates Chris Goulding and Shea Ili for the clash with the Hawks, Tucker impressed with 20 points, four rebounds and three assists on the night.
United is next in action on Wednesday, September 21, when they take on Perth at 8pm AEST.
