The search for Team Tasmania’s name is down to two after the Pride was eliminated ahead of the announcement of the final name on October 1.

Will Tasmania be rising with the Tridents or jumping with the Jack Jumpers?

The search for Team Tasmania’s name is down to two after the Pride was eliminated ahead of the announcement of the final name on October 1.

Earlier this month the Hungry Jack’s NBL revealed the five shortlisted names for Team Tasmania, after receiving almost 10,000 nominations from the Tasmanian public. With the Pride, Timbers and Mountaineers now out of the running, the remaining shortlist of names for the new team are:

  • Tasmania Tridents
  • Tasmania Jack Jumpers

Team Tasmania CEO Simon Brookhouse said: “After today’s elimination of the Pride, we are down to the final two options in the search for Team Tasmania’s name.

“We’ve really enjoyed the input and feedback from all Tasmanians during this process and we are now looking forward to the reveal of the name next week.

“It will be an important moment for the team and for Tasmania as we embark on the journey towards our entry into the NBL for the 2021-22 Hungry Jack’s NBL Season.

“We will also be launching our Foundation Memberships next week and this is a great opportunity for all Tasmanians to show their support for their team.

“As well as receiving the first merchandise for the new team, by signing up as a Foundation Member Tasmanians will be able to choose their own seat at the newly renovated DEC for the 2021-22 Hungry Jack’s NBL Season.”
