David van de Giessen has been named the winner of of SuperCoach NBL, and has dedicated his victory.

The first season of SuperCoach NBL has been a roaring success, but overall competition winner David van der Giessen’s inspiration to win came from something far more than prizes or bragging rights.

Van der Giessen’s team – named DoIt4Jack – was named after his late son, who was alive for only 13 hours after birth, due to a condition called anencephaly.

“To see Jack’s name up in lights there, his name being a SuperCoach champion, I just have no doubt at all (he was involved),” van de Giessen told News Corp.

“There was just something about this season … there were just things that happened in the SuperCoach season which could only happen with someone looking down on you and being proud of what you are doing.”

David has represented Hummingbird House in multiple SuperCoach competitions, with the team name DoIt4Jack.

As the overall winner of SuperCoach NBL, he takes a home a Mitsubishi ASX valued at more than $29,000.

“I am just so glad that his (Jack's) name is synonymous with something I have achieved which I am really, really proud of — to be crowned a SuperCoach champion,” David said.

Over 22,000 fans joined in SuperCoach NBL for its first season, with the competition set to return bigger and better in NBL25.
