Former Melbourne United centre Marcus Lee has signed on with the Tasmania JackJumpers for NBL24.

One of the leading shot-blockers of NBL23 has found a new home for NBL24, with Marcus Lee heading to Tasmania after departing Melbourne United.

Lee arrived at United midway through last season to provide much-needed depth at the centre position, and in 17 games he averaged 8.8 points, 7.5 rebounds and 1.6 blocks per contest.

He joined Melbourne from Spanish Liga ACB side Manresa, and played for Italian side Pallacanestro Reggiana over the NBL off-season.

Lee has also played in Turkey, Puerto Rico and the NBA G-League during his career.

Only former Melbourne teammate and returning Adelaide 36er Isaac Humphries averaged more blocked shots per game in NBL23 than the 28-year-old.

The announcement of Lee’s commitment for NBL24 comes less than 24 hours after the club confirmed the departure of former import centre Rashard Kelly.

"We’re delighted to welcome Marcus to the JackJumpers," JackJumpers co-CEO Jorrick Chivers said. He's an intelligent, athletic big who will bring some additional size and strength to our front court.

"We think Marcus will fit seamlessly into the group we're assembling and make immediate impact. His ability to protect the paint and facilitate our offense will be invaluable, and his basketball IQ is right up there with the very best players in the league.

"He was one of the most efficient scorers [in the NBL] in his time with United, shooting at over 65% so we’re excited to see what he can do this season."
